About me

Business owner, Veterinarian and Dog Trainer

Dr. Emily Lucas, BVSc MANZCVS (Veterinary Behaviour) KPA-CTP

Hello, I’m Dr. Emily Lucas, a qualified veterinarian with over 10 year’s experience. After an internship at the very coveted Randwick Equine Centre, I found my place as a small animal vet in Southern Sydney. I developed a strong interest in behaviour and training very early on in my career and have constantly been creating new learning opportunities to develop my knowledge and skill set. In 2021 I became and Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Behaviour and received the Robert Holmes award for outstanding achievement. I am a fear free certified veterinarian and one of my passions is providing patients with positive, low stress experiences at the vet clinic.

In addition to my veterinary behaviour qualifications, I am proud to be a certified training professional through the Karen Pryor academy. I use training principles centred on science and positive reinforcement, allowing the animals to willingly participate in learning and support a healthy mind. I have also completed Dr. Susan Friedman’s Living and Learning with Animals course in 2022.

I own two rescue dogs Frankie and Biscuit who star in all my photos, videos and social media. They have been the greatest teachers I have ever had. I have experienced first hand what it is like to have a dog with mental illness in the family. I understand the pressure and strain it can create which is why I am so passionate about helping others in the same situation.
